I fell in love with wood burning when we moved to the farm. It's what kept us warm through the winter and saved us money to help with projects. There's nothing better than lighting a fire to lift your spirits on a cold, dark winters day. I've pursued wood burning perfection through trial, error, and study. Now my pursuit is the creation of wood burning tools to aid the modern wood burner.
I fell in love with forging soon after I built my wife Valerie a forge. She wanted to try it! I knew nothing about it but was able to create a nice wood fired forge with the equipment I had in my shop. We put a piece of steel in the fire and bent it into a hook. It was one of the coolest things I had ever experienced! Within two years I had built a fully functioning blacksmith shop in our old barn and practiced enough to become proficient in the basic techniques of blacksmithing. The shop itself is beautiful and takes me back to a time when farmers hand wrought tools for the farm and ironwork for the home.
Steel and fire are linked. From the earths molten iron core to the hand wrought steel in our homes, they are one. Each carefully placed hammer blow is used to create a natural art form that has no rival. Thank you for visiting and reading! Dave B.
